A Historic Day

Thank you to everyone who joined us to mark this powerful moment in Oakland’s history: the inauguration of Mayor Barbara Lee. Your presence, support, and love brought this day to life.

Whether you were there in person at Jack London Square, Ferry Lawn, tuning in online, or supporting from afar, this moment belongs to Oakland.

Saturday, June 7
Oakland Community Day of Service

During the Oakland Inaugural Weekend, the community came together to celebrate and accomplish the following:

  • Hundreds of volunteers mobilized across six cleanup sites.

  • Oakland residents removed over 3,000 tons of litter and brush from our neighborhoods.

  • Graffiti removal efforts revitalized high-traffic areas and neighborhood landmarks, including a complete repaint of the Boys & Girls Club at 8530 International Blvd.

  • Public community spaces were cleared, painted, and refreshed.

  • Elected local leaders and community champions supported every cleanup.

Thank you for volunteering and showing the larger community what people power looks like.

Thank You

On behalf of the Oakland Inaugural Committee 2025, we would like to thank the community-based organizations, artists, performers, volunteers, interpreters, the production team, and every single Oaklander who made this weekend possible — thank you.

You helped make history.
